In January of 1987 the television reviewer for the Dallas Times Herald wrote of Kell Kearns’ groundbreaking biography of Martin Luther King, Jr that it “works on almost too many levels to talk about”. The phrase captures the essence of the truth and beauty Kearns has brought to the screen in 14 independent productions, and now brings to the lecture circuit.
November, 2005 marked the release of The Consciousness of The Christ: Reclaiming Jesus For a New Humanity, written, directed and narrated on the screen by Kell Kearns. The documentary, which teaches a Christ Who is our True Identity and motivates and activates the living of our highest potential, was booked into 25 churches, New Thought conferences, and schools of spirituality and metaphysics in its first month.
Many of the screenings involved a three day seminar by Kell Kearns. He spoke at the evening screening of The Consciousness of The Christ, led a workshop the following day, then spoke at Sunday services. His years of study, prayer, contemplation, writing, and on camera performances provide audiences with an intense and intimate deepening of the messages of The Consciousness of The Christ.

Kell began at the age of 23 as a radio talk show host at KPBC Radio, Dallas in 1974 while attending Dallas Baptist University. From then to now he has conducted hundreds of broadcast interviews with the most notable and interesting people of our time. The wildly diverse list ranges from Ronald Reagan to Carol Channing, Muhammmed Ali, Jimmy Carter, Joey Bishop, Vincent Price, Archbishop Tutu, Tony Bennett....and so on.
In 1977 Kearns took his first position as a TV news reporter and interviewer with the CBS affiliate in Boise, Idaho. He returned to Dallas in 1979 to anchor local news, and host a weekly entertainment broadcast magazine.
In 1984 Kearns quit the local news business, formed Idanha Films, a national television and film production company, and never looked back. His second film, The Arms Race Within, about a Gandhian community that, through the power of Love, stopped a train carrying 160 nuclear bombs, was distributed nationally on PBS. Again the press responded to the power of the image. “Not since Strelnikov raced his locomotive across the frozen wastes of Russia, has a train appeared so ominous on film, “wrote the reviewer for the Dallas Morning News.
Next came In Remembrance of Martin, Kearns’ biography of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It set a new standard for television documentaries. Narrated only through his interviews with those who knew King best, Kearns brilliantly utilized rare film footage from the times set against a near continuous flow of gospel and rock music, to evoke the collective memory, expectations, joys and sorrows of an entire generation.
The accolades poured in. “A well made wreath for his tomb”, wrote the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “The kind of hour that makes you proud to be an America,” noted The New York Daily News. The review by The Washington Post was prophetic. “A genuine jewel that should be shown regularly in every home and school.” Seventeen years after its national debut on PBS, IN REMEMBRANCE OF MARTIN is still broadcast every year on cable during the King holiday. The home video resides in thousands of schools and libraries.
By the time he made his next film, THE HEALING OF BRIAN WILLSON, about war in Central America, it was as if the public had come to expect excellence from a Kell Kearns production “Another masterpiece of Nonviolence”, wrote Fellowship magazine.
In 1990, Kearns returned to his love of the powerful seamless combination of music and image, with ‘Breakthrough’ - a visionary concert film with Kris Kristofferson that drew upon images shot throughout the world to bring the message of peace. First broadcast on PBS through the Central Education Network, ‘Breakthrough’ was re-released on home video in 2004 by ‘OH Boy Records.
Kearns then turned his attention to the rising global phenomenon of empowered women, whose lives are reshaping the world in a new paradigm of love and harmony. He produced THE AGE OF THE GREAT GODDESS, (Sounds True) which looked far back into time when the Divine Feminine was at the heart of human belief, and forward to the present in which women are again taking their place in ‘tending and mending’ the destiny of humankind.
There followed a series of work devoted to pure beauty. PLANET OF DREAMS, which Kearns’ hosted, celebrated the beauty of the planet and its wildlife with footage from around the world.
But, it is speaking publicly on The Consciousness of The Christ: Reclaiming Jesus For a New Humanity and coming films that develop the same theme that Kell Kearns says is central to his vocation now.
“It is imperative in our time that the New Humanity being born within us be nurtured and given safe delivery so that all of us, as One, can claim our divinity in absolute love and absolute forgiveness, and, in acting from our True Identity, become saviors of humankind, no matter from what spiritual tradition we arise to do the task. For me, to my great joy, I have come full circle, and it is Christ consciousness, awakened in me when I was a child, to which I now return to communicate in fullness as a way of personal and global transformation."
